AI Data Center

An AI data center is a facility purpose-built for AI workloads, with power, cooling and networking rebuilt around GPU clusters — the new infrastructure of the AI age.

What is an AI data center?

An AI data center is a facility purpose-built for AI workloads. A traditional data center mostly stores data and runs websites and ordinary apps. An AI data center packs hundreds or thousands of GPUs together to do the heavy lifting — training large models, running inference — like a "compute factory" redesigned from power to cooling.

How is it different from a normal data center?

Insane power draw
A single high-end GPU can pull as much power as a space heater; one AI data center can consume what a mid-sized city uses.
Cooling is job one
Compute density is so high that normal air conditioning can't cope — you need liquid cooling or even immersion cooling.
Networking has to be blazing
Thousands of GPUs work together, so internal bandwidth and latency requirements are extreme.

Why is it the new infrastructure?

AI competition starts with compute, and the physical home of compute is the AI data center. Countries and cloud giants are building them furiously, treating them like roads or the power grid. More data centers means bigger models and more AI services.

The challenges ahead

Power, cooling, siting, supply chains — the bar keeps rising. Building one is no longer "buy a few more servers." It's a full systems-engineering problem touching energy, construction and networking.

Bottom line: an AI data center is the power plant of the AI era, turning GPU clusters into a utility like water or electricity.
