What is WebArena?

AI is great at talking in a chat window, but drop it onto a real website — where it has to log in, fill forms, click buttons — and can it still get work done? WebArena is the exam built for exactly that. It sets up a dozen realistic websites (e-commerce, forums, GitLab, maps…) and hands the AI concrete tasks to complete by driving a browser like a person.

What does it actually test?

Can it read a page?
Web pages are built for eyes, not for models. The AI first has to understand what's on the page, where the buttons are, and how to fill the fields.
Can it plan steps?

WebArena drops tasks into its own controlled websites and sets a clear success criterion for each. The AI works through a browser while the system records every step, and at the end it checks whether the goal was met.
