What is workslop?

"Slop" once meant sloppy mush; now it's the word for low-quality AI output that looks the part but is hollow, repetitive and empty of information. Workslop is that same junk dropped into the workplace: a report nobody will actually read, an email stuffed with boilerplate, output that exists mainly to look busy.

Why is it a problem?

It passes the bar but does nothing
It's "complete" enough to clear a formal check, but it doesn't hold up to reading and it doesn't solve anything.
It offloads work onto your colleagues
You dash off ten pages of filler in a minute, and everyone else spends half an hour reading and decoding what you meant. The point was to save time — instead you shifted the labor to someone else.

How is it different from a useful tool?

Having AI draft or organize your thinking is valuable. But treating "generated" as "done" — no review, no cut, just hit send — is how you make workslop. The question isn't whether you use AI; it's whether you actually do the editing step.

How to avoid it

Before you send anything, ask three questions: Does anyone actually need this? If I were the recipient, would I want to read it? Once you strip out the AI flavor, how much substance is left? If you can't answer, don't send it.

Bottom line: workslop is AI-generated output that never passed through a human brain — it saves your time and steals everyone else's.
